About the Author
Emmett Barcalow, who received a Ph.D. from Columbia University, is a Professor of Philosophy and English and Chair of the Department of Communication and Humanities at Western New England College. He is also the author of MORAL PHILOSOPHY: THEORIES AND ISSUES (Wadsworth) and OPEN QUESTIONS: AN INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY (Oxford University Press).

This book promotes Communistic utopian ideals

Here is what this book does: First, it explains how each major moral theory man has developed is supposed to function, and then explains the problems with each one (In other words, none of them work). It then lists everything that Western Civilization, America, industry and white people have ever done wrong in recorded history and tries to explain why they were immoral and how to fix their problems using these broken moral philosophies. The majority of the book is a record of wrongs done to other people, not an exposition of moral theories. It is a prime example of the school of thought that blames the successful for the unsuccessful, the capitalists for the poor, supporters of Constitutional government for the failed social programs of liberals, and mankind for killing the earth. The moral philosophy of this book is that the government needs to tax us all to save us from ourselves, stop defending our country, make sure we all have equal outcomes, and redistribute wealth. It even endorses Karl Marx when he said “to each according to his needs, from each according to his ability”. If you want an excuse to be coddled and cared for, this is the book for you.
